With heat index values expected to top 90° over the next couple of days, the Mattern Building in Mildred will be open as a cooling center for anyone who needs a break from the heat.

The Sullivan County Board of Elections has identified an error affecting a limited number of mail-in ballots for the upcoming 2025 Municipal Primary Election.

Spring has arrived in Sullivan County, and with it comes the warmth we’ve all been eagerly waiting for. For many, it’s a chance to get outside and finish up the yard work we started last fall. The primary care health clinic located in the Laporte Medical Center will be temporarily closed for one week, from 3/17 to 3/21.  This brief closure will allow the smooth transition from Rural Health Corporation to Laurel Health. 

Meteorological Spring is here, the snow has melted, temperatures are rising and there has already been 5 brush fires in the last week.  The County Commissioners and Department of Emergency Services would like to remind everyone that open burning of debris at this time of year creates significant hazards to life and property.
