Board of Elections Notice Regarding Voter Participation Center/Center for Voter Information Mailings
The Sullivan County Board of Elections has recently been notified that Sullivan County voters are receiving mailings from the Voter Participation Center and Center for Voter Information (VPC/CVI). Sullivan County residents should be aware that these mailings are NOT from the Sullivan County Board of Elections.
These mailings tend to cause confusion and distrust among voters. VPC/CPI is not affiliated with the county, and the Sullivan County Board of Elections does not assist in developing or distributing these items. VPC/CPI upholds all responsibility to these mailings including mailings with wrong information.
Some voter registration information is available to the public by a right-to- know request, however, mailings from VPC/CVI are often sent using outdated records containing the names of deceased people or people who have since registered at another address.
Voters who receive mailings from these groups can request to opt out of their mailing lists by following the instructions on the letter.
If you wish to receive a mail-in or absentee ballot and have already submitted an application, you should not send another. No matter how many applications a voter submits, they will be mailed only one ballot.
Any Sullivan County voters that have questions about their voter registration, the status of their mail-in or absentee ballot, or other elections-related issues may contact the Sullivan County Board of Elections Office at 570-946-5201 ext. 7.
