Spring has arrived in Sullivan County, and with it comes the warmth we’ve all been eagerly waiting for. For many, it’s a chance to get outside and finish up the yard work we started last fall. However, as we make our debris piles and clean out our wood stoves, it’s important to be mindful of the fire risks that spring can bring.

The primary care health clinic located in the Laporte Medical Center will be temporarily closed for one week, from 3/17 to 3/21.  This brief closure will allow the smooth transition from Rural Health Corporation to Laurel Health. 

Meteorological Spring is here, the snow has melted, temperatures are rising and there has already been 5 brush fires in the last week.  The County Commissioners and Department of Emergency Services would like to remind everyone that open burning of debris at this time of year creates significant hazards to life and property.
